My network marketing story starts after college.

I had just received my hard-earned engineering degree and knew it wouldn’t be long before I landed my first job.

Man was I WRONG!

See I didn’t have any job leads or a job lined up right after graduation like some of my friends.

So I found myself searching and applying for jobs on boards like monster.com. The frustrating thing is that it seemed like EVERY job wanted someone with at least 2-3 years experience. I remember being frustrated thinking “How do they expect you to GET experience if no one EVER offers you your first job?!?!”

Here I was..busted my (_!_) to graduate college with what’s supposed to be an ‘in-demand’ degree and MONTHS later I still don’t have a job!

First Networking Marketing Exposure

After what seems like an endless amount of time with no job leads or interviews, I received a call from my resume Monster.   I guess that was the LinkedIn back then. Lol!

The gentleman said he was looking for smart, ambitious young college grads to join his growing business in the area with the potential to earn 6 figures or more! He invited me to his office to learn more and I accepted. I didn’t have anything to lose — and the opportunity to make 6 figures seemed to good to pass up.

That meeting was the first time I’d heard the words networking marketing and it seemed like great concept to me.

I remember leaving the meeting FIRED up, ready to get started and thinking “Why did I spend ALL this TIME and MONEY going to college!?!?  This seems WAY easier!”

Not long after starting with the network marketing company I was offered and accepted a job. Things were looking up… Or so I thought.

The job didn’t come without a cost.  See… it took me 19 hours away from my upline, family and friends.  This didn’t help my business at all.  As a matter of fact, I think it doomed it.

Here  I was…

Too far away to attend meetings and learn recruiting skills from my upline (and apparently too far for consistent calls from my upline)…

Too far away from family and friends to try and recruit them.

I was ALL alone in a NEW state, learning a NEW job in a city full of NEW people.

Needless to say…my business feel apart before it had really gotten off the ground.

I didn’t let it get me down too much.  After all, I had a job to fall back on. I was earning good money and starting to write my version of the American Dream.

Shortly thereafter, I relocated closer to home, got married to my college girlfriend and started a family a few years later. Life was good!

FAST-FORWARD A FEW YEARS…

I was making my way up the corporate ladder but I’d seen many friends and coworkers end up on the wrong side of corporate cut backs along the way.  I knew this could have very well been me and I had to come up with a Plan B.

This led me back to network marketing.  This time I was intent on making it work.  I joined another company.  I followed EVERYTHING my upline told me to do…hosted/attended hotel meetings, talked to all my friends and family.

THE GRIND

It took time and A LOT of REJECTION but finally my business started growing and I was climbing my company ranks.  Not long after I ran out of people to talk to, my business (along with my downline’s) started to decline.

MY BREAKTHROUGH

I desperately started googling ways to get more prospects for my business and came across this 10 Day Online Recruiting Bootcamp.  Getting more leads than I could handle, dealing with less rejection was was so exciting and changed the game for my business.

MY ADVICE

Be open to change  – there is nothing ‘wrong’ with the traditional way of building your business.  But be open to trying other ways of recruiting like recruiting on social media.

Don’t re-invent the wheel – Just like I found.  There’s someone out there who’s run out of leads or was tired of rejection a solution.  The 10 day recruiting bootcamp was key to turning around my business.

Try something different – If what you’re doing isn’t working, you have nothing to lose by trying something else.

Be Consistent/Don’t Quit! –  No matter what you try give it time.  You have to be bad before good…before great!  🙂
